Our 16 GB plan supports up to 32 players for large PvE or PvP communities with heavy scenario setups. Every plan includes DDoS protection, automatic backups, and 24/7 support.
How much RAM does an Empyrion server need?
Empyrion is notably RAM-heavy. The dedicated server holds a live instance of every playfield players visit (roughly 1 GB per playfield) and each active player uses 1-3 GB on top of that (averaging around 1.5 GB). We enforce an 8 GB floor because anything below is unusable, 12 GB is the sweet spot for a 16-player community running Reforged Eden or Project Eden (our recommended pick), and 16 GB gives 32-player servers plenty of headroom for busy multi-playfield exploration and heavy scenarios.
What is a playfield, and does exploration affect server RAM?
A playfield is a single world instance in Empyrion - a planet, moon, orbital sector, or asteroid field. When any player visits a playfield, the server loads it into memory and holds it there (typically about 1 GB per active playfield). The more places your crew explores, the more RAM the server uses. That's why we recommend a plan with headroom rather than the absolute minimum - your galaxy grows as your crew explores.
Can I run Reforged Eden, Project Eden, HWS, or Star Salvage scenarios?
Yes - our Empyrion hosting has full support for every popular community scenario, including Reforged Eden, Project Eden, HWS, and Star Salvage. Install any scenario through our control panel or full SFTP access, edit dedicated.yaml and gameoptions.yaml directly, and tune settings without restrictions. How many players can join an Empyrion server?
Our plans support 8, 16, or 32 concurrent players. Empyrion can technically scale beyond that with enough RAM (100 players needs 128 GB+), but 32 is the practical hosting sweet spot for well-tuned community servers. Plans are upgradeable at any time with zero downtime.
