Death penalties determine what happens to a player's inventory when they die. Configure these settings to balance risk and consequence for your team of scientists.
Configuring Death Penalties
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and Stop your server.

- Click the Settings tab and select Abiotic Factor Sandbox Settings.

- Locate the Death Penalties option and set your desired value.

- Save and Start your server.
Death Penalty Options

| Keep All Items | No item loss on death - respawn with everything |
| Keep Equipped Items & Hotbar | Lose backpack contents but keep worn gear and hotbar items (default) |
| Keep Hotbar Only | Lose everything except items in your hotbar |
| Keep Equipped Items Only | Keep worn equipment but lose hotbar and inventory |
| Lose All Items Including Hotbar | All items dropped on death - must retrieve from corpse |
| All Items Are Destroyed | All items permanently destroyed on death - maximum punishment |

Tips
- "Keep All Items" is great for casual play or learning the game
- The default setting balances consequence with accessibility
- "Lose All Items" creates high-stakes gameplay where death really matters
- "All Items Destroyed" is extremely punishing - consider carefully before enabling
- Adjust Durability Loss On Death to add additional consequence without full item loss
