High ping can cause desync, lag, and a poor experience for all players. Setting a ping limit helps ensure smooth gameplay by restricting connections from players with poor network quality.
Players who exceed the ping limit will be disconnected. Set to 100 to disable the limit entirely.
Ping Setting
| Setting | Default | Range | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ping Limit | 400 | 100-2147483647 | Maximum allowed ping in milliseconds |
Configuring Ping Limit
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and Stop your server.

- Click the Settings tab and select Project Zomboid Server Settings.

- Locate the Ping Limit setting under Performance & Optimization.

- Click Save and Start your server.
Recommended Ping Limits
| Region | Recommended Limit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Local/Regional | 100-150ms | Strict, best experience |
| National | 200-250ms | Good balance |
| International | 300-400ms | More inclusive |
| Global | 500ms+ | Very lenient |
| Disabled | 100 | No limit enforced |
Understanding Ping
- 0-50ms: Excellent connection
- 50-100ms: Good connection
- 100-200ms: Acceptable
- 200-300ms: May experience some lag
- 300ms+: Noticeable desync possible
Troubleshooting High Ping
If players consistently exceed the ping limit:
- Check server location vs player location
- Reduce server load by limiting max players
- Ask players to use wired connections instead of WiFi
Ping limits are configured. Players with ping exceeding your limit will be disconnected to maintain server quality.
