Automatic backups protect your world from data loss, corruption, or accidental changes. Project Zomboid can create backups at regular intervals and on specific events.
More frequent backups use more disk space. Adjust Backups Count to balance protection with storage limits.
Backup Settings Overview

Configuring Backups
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and Stop your server.

- Click the Settings tab and select Project Zomboid World Settings.

- Locate the backup settings and configure as needed:
- Set Backups Period to your desired interval (e.g.,
60for hourly) - Set Backups Count to control how many backups to keep
- Enable Backups On Start for safety on restarts

Backup Location
Backups are stored in the Zomboid/Saves/Multiplayer directory with timestamps in the folder names.
Manual Backups
In addition to automatic backups, you can create manual backups:
- Use the
savecommand in the console to force a save - Download the world folder from Files >
Zomboid/Saves/Multiplayer
Automatic backups are configured. Your world data will be protected according to your settings.
