Before a Satisfactory dedicated server can host games, it must be "claimed" by a player. Claiming initializes the server and sets the admin password that controls access to server settings.
Only one person needs to claim the server. Other players can authenticate as admins later using the password you set.
What Is Claiming?
Claiming is the one-time initialization process for a new Satisfactory server. The first player to connect will:
- Give the server a display name
- Set an administrator password
- Create the first game session
Claiming Your Server
- Launch Satisfactory and open the Server Manager from the main menu.

- Click Add Server and enter your server's IP address and port.

- Since the server is unclaimed, you'll see the Claim Server option. Enter a Server Name that will display in the Server Manager.

- Create an Admin Password - this is required to access server settings.

- Click Confirm to complete the claim.
After Claiming
Once claimed, you can:
- Create a new game via the Create Game tab
- Configure server settings via the Server Settings tab
- Upload an existing save via Manage Saves
Remember your admin password! If you forget it, you'll need to reset it by deleting the server settings file. See How to Reset the Admin Password.
Your server is claimed and ready. Create a new game or upload an existing save to start playing!
