How to Install tModLoader on Your PC

Download and install tModLoader for free from Steam to play modded Terraria and connect to tModLoader servers.

tModLoader is a free standalone application on Steam that lets you play Terraria with mods. You'll need it installed to connect to any tModLoader server and enjoy modded gameplay.

tModLoader is separate from the base Terraria game. You don't need to own Terraria to install tModLoader, but you will need it to play.

Installing tModLoader

  1. Open Steam and search for "tModLoader". Steam store search showing tModLoader in search results
  2. Click on tModLoader in the search results.

  4. Wait for the download to complete then launch tModLoader from your Steam library.

First Launch

When you first launch tModLoader:

  1. It will create necessary folders and files
  2. You may be prompted to extract vanilla Terraria files
  3. The main menu will appear once setup is complete

Installing Mods on Your Client

After installing tModLoader, you can add mods:

  1. Click Workshop from the main menu
  2. Click Mod Browser
  3. Search for and download mods you want
  4. Enable mods in the Mods menu
  5. Click Reload Mods to apply changes

You're ready to launch tModLoader and connect to your server or browse available mods.
