How to Install Mods on Your 7 Days to Die Server

Enhance your 7 Days to Die server with custom mods using Wabbanode’s file manager.

Mods let you expand and customize your 7 Days to Die experience. From simple quality‑of‑life tweaks to major content additions, installing mods on a dedicated server ensures all players share the same modifications. This guide covers the general process of finding, uploading and managing mods via the Wabbanode Control Panel.

For information on installing large overhaul mods like Darkness Falls, see How to Install Darkness Falls on Your 7 Days to Die Server.

Finding and Preparing Mods

  1. Browse trusted sources such as NexusMods, GitHub or the official forums to find mods compatible with your version of 7 Days to Die. Verify that the mod supports server installation.
  2. Download the mod archive to your local computer and extract it. Most mods contain a folder named after the mod inside a parent Mods directory.

Installing Mods

  1. Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and Stop your server. Stopping a Wabbanode Minecraft server
  2. Open the Files tab and locate the Mods folder in your server’s root directory. If it doesn’t exist, create it using the Create Folder button.
  3. On your computer, open the extracted mod folder (the folder inside Mods). Use the Upload Folder button to upload this folder into the Mods directory in the file manager. Repeat for each mod you want to install.
  4. Wait for the upload to complete. Ensure that each mod has its own folder inside Mods.
  5. Return to the main page and Start your server. The game will load each mod during startup. You can check the console for messages confirming successful loading.

Managing Installed Mods

  • To update a mod, stop the server, delete the old mod folder and upload the new version.
  • To remove a mod, stop the server and delete its folder from Mods. Be aware that removing mods can break worlds if they add new blocks or items.
  • Encourage players to install the same mods locally to prevent connection issues. Some mods require client‑side files.

Installing mods expands what’s possible on your 7 Days to Die server. Keep track of which mods you use, and always back up your world before making major changes.
