A domain is an easy to remember replacement for your IP Address, such as wabba-and-friends.wabbanode-server.com
instead of 123.12.123.12:25575
. Wabbanode's control panel has built in support for custom subdomains provided free of charge.
While there are other benefits to purchasing a Dedicated Port, all servers can make use of A Records and SRV Records to eliminate the need for a dedicated port if you wish to keep your server address simple without needing to pay extra.
There is no limit to the number of subdomains you may have per server however each port may have up to one subdomain. Additionally, configuring subdomains can be done without need for server restarts.
Creating a Subdomain
All subdomain functionality is included into our easy-to-use ports page.
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and press Ports on the left.
- Under Manage Subdomains, select the port that you wish to create a subdomain for.
- Enter your desired subdomain, and select your parent domain. Have a domain you'd like to see? Reach out and let us know.
- Press Create Subdomain to confirm your selection. The subdomain will immediately be applied, which you can delete at anytime.
- Once applied, you'll see your new subdomain beside the server port. In our example, we can now use
tabbycatworld.wabbanode-server.com:25597
.
- Once applied, you'll see your new subdomain beside the server port. In our example, we can now use
Linking Server Port (SRV Record)
Subdomains on their own are cool, however it'd be even cooler if you're able to ignore the server port and just use your new subdomain in-game without needing to remember the port.
Linking your server port is Wabbanode's way of keeping SRV records simple, doing everything on your behalf. We recommend doing this to keep your server address safe in the event of hardware upgrades or region transfers.
- Ensure that your Server Port is selected with an active subdomain, and press Link Server Port.
- Confirm that you would like to link your server port (you can unlink at anytime).
- Your server port has now been linked, and now you can just use your subdomain to connect to the server without needing the server port.
- While the port is hidden on the ports page, your raw IP address is always visible in the sidebar for future reference.#
By following these steps, you've navigated our subdomain manager, created and linked your server port and removed the need to enter your server's numerical IP address and port to connect to your server.
