Spawn protection prevents non-operator players from placing or breaking blocks within a certain radius of the world spawn point. This feature helps protect important spawn areas from griefing and unwanted modifications. You can adjust the protection radius or disable it entirely using the Wabbanode Control Panel.
Configuring Spawn Protection
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and select your Minecraft server.
- Stop your server if it is currently running. You cannot modify server settings while the server is online.

- Click Settings to access your server properties.

- Scroll down to locate the Spawn-protection field and enter your desired protection radius in blocks. Set to
0to disable spawn protection completely.
- Click the Save button at the top of the page to apply your changes.

- Start your server to load the new configuration.
Once your server restarts, the new spawn protection radius will be in effect.
Understanding Spawn Protection
Spawn protection creates a protected area around the world spawn point where only server operators can place or break blocks, use items, or interact with containers and entities. The spawn protection value represents the radius in blocks from the spawn point.
How it works:
- Default value (16): Creates a 33×33 block protected area (16 blocks in each direction from spawn)
- Value of 0: Disables spawn protection entirely, allowing all players to build at spawn
- Higher values: Increase the protected area to prevent building further from spawn
Non-operator players who attempt to build within the protected area will find that their actions have no effect. Blocks they place will not appear, and blocks they try to break will remain intact.
Troubleshooting
- Changes not taking effect. Ensure you clicked Save Config and restarted your server. Players may need to disconnect and reconnect to experience the new protection radius.
- Operators cannot build at spawn. Verify that the player has proper OP permissions by running
/op <playername>in the server console. - Non-OPs can still build at spawn. Check that spawn protection is not set to
0. If you're using plugins, ensure there are no permission conflicts that might override spawn protection.
Configuring spawn protection allows you to control who can modify the area around your server's spawn point. Adjust the radius to match your server's needs, or disable it entirely if you use alternative protection methods.
