The PvP setting controls whether players can damage each other on your Minecraft server. By default, PvP is enabled. Disabling it is useful for cooperative survival servers, building-focused communities, or servers where you want to prevent griefing through player combat.
Disabling PvP through server.properties is a server-wide setting. If you want PvP enabled in some areas but disabled in others (such as a spawn safe zone), you will need a plugin like WorldGuard that supports region-based PvP control.
Toggling PvP via the Panel
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and select your Minecraft server.
- Stop your server if it is currently running. You cannot modify server settings while the server is online.

- Click Settings to access your server properties.

- Locate the PVP toggle. Set it to enabled to allow player combat, or disabled to prevent it.

- Click Save Config at the top of the page to apply your changes.

- Start your server to load the new configuration.
Per-Area PvP with Plugins
For more granular PvP control, plugins like WorldGuard allow you to define regions where PvP is enabled or disabled. This is useful for servers that want:
- A no-PvP zone around spawn
- Dedicated PvP arenas
- PvP-free building areas alongside PvP survival zones
See our guide on How to Install Plugins on Your Minecraft Server for plugin installation instructions.
Troubleshooting
- PvP still active after disabling. Ensure you clicked Save and restarted the server. The setting only applies after a restart.
- Splash potions still damage players. This is expected behavior. The PvP setting only blocks direct player damage. Use gamerules or plugins to block potion splash damage.
- Want PvP enabled in specific areas only. The server.properties PvP toggle is server-wide. Install a plugin like WorldGuard for region-based PvP control.
Toggling PvP on your Minecraft server is a straightforward change in the Wabbanode Panel settings. For per-area PvP control, consider using a plugin like WorldGuard. For more server customization, check out our guide on How to Use Gamerules on Your Minecraft Server.
