ValheimResetting your Valheim character allows you to start fresh with a new Viking. This removes all inventory, skills, and progress tied to that character. Character data is stored locally on your computer, so this process is done through the game client rather than the server.
This action is irreversible! Deleting a character permanently removes all their inventory, skills, and progression. Make sure you're certain before proceeding.
Deleting a Character
- Launch Valheim and click Start Game on the main menu.
- Use the arrows to select the character you want to delete.
- Click the Remove button.
- Click Yes on the confirmation pop-up to confirm deletion.
Your character has been permanently deleted.
Creating a New Character
After deleting your character, click New on the character selection screen to create a fresh Viking with:
- All skills reset to 0
- Empty inventory
- Default appearance (customizable)
Character data is stored locally on your PC, not on the server. Deleting a character only affects your local game — other players on the server keep their characters.
You've successfully reset your Valheim character and can now start fresh with a new Viking.
