Kicking a player removes them from your Valheim server immediately but allows them to rejoin. This is useful for dealing with temporary disruptions or asking a player to reconnect. For permanent removal, see our guide on How to Ban and Unban Players on Your Valheim Server.
To use the kick command, you must be an admin on the server and have the console enabled. See our guides on How to Add an Admin to Your Valheim Server and How to Enable the Console in Valheim.
Kicking a Player
- Join your Valheim server and ensure you're logged in as an admin.
- Press F5 to open the console.

- Enter one of the following commands:
- Kick by Steam ID:
kick <steam64id>
- Kick by character name:
kick <charactername>
- Kick by Steam ID:
- Press Enter to execute the command.
The player will be immediately disconnected from the server.
Kicking by character name only works if the player is currently online. If you need to remove a player who has disconnected, use the ban command instead.
Kicked players can rejoin the server at any time. If you need to permanently prevent a player from joining, use the ban command instead.
