Banning players removes them from your Valheim server and prevents them from rejoining until unbanned. You can ban players using in-game commands or by editing the server's configuration files directly. This guide covers both methods.
To use in-game ban commands, you must be an admin on the server and have the console enabled. See our guides on How to Add an Admin to Your Valheim Server and How to Enable the Console in Valheim.
Banning Players In-Game

- Press F5 to open the console.

- Enter one of the following commands:
- Ban by Steam ID:
ban <steam64id> - Ban by character name:
ban <charactername>
- Ban by Steam ID:
- Press Enter to execute the command.
The player will be immediately kicked from the server and added to the ban list.
Banning by character name only works if the player is currently online. For offline players, use their Steam64 ID instead.
