The Idle Day Cycle Speed setting controls how time progresses on your server when no players are connected. This is useful for managing resource regeneration and enemy behavior while the server is empty.
Changing the Idle Day Cycle Speed
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and Stop your server.

- Click the Settings tab and select Sons of The Forest Game Settings.

- Locate Idle Day Cycle Speed and enter your desired value.

- Click Save and Start your server.
Speed Values
| Value | Effect |
|---|---|
| 0 | Day cycle paused when no players connected (recommended) |
| 1 | Normal speed - time passes at regular rate |
| 2+ | Faster day cycle - time progresses more quickly |
Recommendations
Set to 0 (Paused) if:
- You want to preserve the time of day for when players return
- You don't want the game day counter to advance while empty
- You want consistent gameplay sessions
Set to 1 (Normal) if:
- You want a persistent world that continues without players
- Time-based events should continue
Set higher than 1 if:
- You want time to pass quickly while the server is idle
- You're using time progression for specific gameplay mechanics
Setting to 0 is recommended for most servers as it prevents the game from progressing multiple days while no one is playing, keeping the experience consistent for returning players.
