How to Become Admin on Your Sons of the Forest Server

Activate admin privileges and access the admin panel on your Sons of the Forest server.

Once your SteamID64 has been added to the server's ownerswhitelist.txt file, you can activate admin privileges in-game to access the admin panel and console commands.

Your SteamID64 must be added to the ownerswhitelist.txt file before you can become an admin. See How to Add Admins for instructions.

Activating Admin Privileges

  1. Once in-game, press Enter to open the chat and type cheatstick (case-sensitive, no spaces). Sons of the Forest chat with cheatstick command typed
  2. Press Enter to confirm.
  3. Press F1 to open the admin panel. Sons of the Forest admin panel interface

Troubleshooting

The text doesn't appear when I type cheatstick: This is normal behavior. The text is hidden when typing admin commands. Continue typing and press Enter.

Nothing happens after typing cheatstick:

  • Verify your SteamID64 is correctly added to ownerswhitelist.txt
  • Ensure your keyboard is set to US layout
  • Make sure you typed cheatstick exactly (lowercase, no spaces)

F1 doesn't open the admin panel: Press Enter and type cheatstick again, then try F1. The admin activation may not have registered.

Admin Panel Features

Once the admin panel is open, you have access to:

  • Spawn items and characters
  • Toggle god mode and invisibility
  • Super jump and fast run abilities
  • Regenerate health
  • Modify companion behavior (Kelvin, Virginia)
  • Adjust difficulty settings
