How to Join Your Sons of the Forest Server

Connect to your Sons of the Forest dedicated server using the server browser or direct connect.

Sons of the Forest is a survival horror game and sequel to The Forest, where you search for a missing billionaire on a remote island filled with cannibalistic mutants. Here's how to connect to your dedicated server.

You will need to know your server's name in order to follow this guide. We have a guide on changing your server's name here.

Method 1: Joining via Server Browser

Launch Sons of the Forest and click Multiplayer from the main menu.
Click Join.
Set the Source to Dedicated.
Use the search bar to find your server by name.
Select your server and click Join.
Enter the server password if prompted then click Connect.

New servers can take 5+ minutes to appear in the server browser. If you don't see your server, try using direct connect instead.

Method 2: Joining via Direct Connect

If your server isn't appearing in the browser, you can connect directly using the IP address.

Launch Sons of the Forest and click Multiplayer from the main menu.
Click Join.
Click Direct.
Enter your server IP and port in the format: IP:Port (e.g., 192.168.1.1:8766).

You're now connected to your Sons of the Forest server and ready to survive.
