Sons of the ForestThe Save Mode setting determines whether your server loads an existing save or starts a completely new game. This is useful when you want to reset your world or continue from where you left off.
Setting Save Mode to "New" will reset all progress in the current save slot. All buildings, items, and player progress will be lost. Make sure you want to start fresh before selecting this option.
Configuring Save Mode
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and Stop your server.
- Click the Settings tab and select Sons of The Forest Game Settings.
- Locate Save Mode and select your desired option:
- Continue — Load from existing save slot
- New — Start a fresh game
- Click Save and Start your server.
When to Use Each Mode
Use Continue when:
- You want to pick up where you left off
- Players have progress they want to keep
- Normal server restarts
Use New when:
- You want to completely reset the world
- Starting a new season or event
- Changing game mode (which requires a new save)
- The current save has issues
Game mode settings only take effect when creating a new save. If you want to change the difficulty, you must set Save Mode to "New" and select your desired game mode.
Save mode has been configured on your server.
