A whitelist restricts your Valheim server to only allow specific players to join. Anyone not on the permitted list will be unable to connect. This is useful for private servers where you want to control exactly who can access your world.
When the permitted list contains at least one Steam ID, the whitelist becomes active and only those players can join. An empty permitted list allows anyone to connect.
Adding Players to the Whitelist
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and select your Valheim server.
- Stop your server.

- Click the Files tab.

- Open the saves folder.

- Click on permittedlist.txt to open the file.

- Enter the Steam64 ID of each player you want to whitelist, one per line.

- Click Save and Start your server.
Only players whose Steam IDs are in the permitted list will be able to join your server.
Need to find a player's Steam64 ID? See our guide on How to Add an Admin to Your Valheim Server for instructions on looking up Steam IDs.
Removing Players from the Whitelist
- Navigate to the Wabbanode Control Panel and stop your Valheim server.

- Click the Files tab.

- Open the saves folder.

- Click on permittedlist.txt to open the file.

- Delete the line containing the player's Steam64 ID.

- Click Save and Start your server.
The player will no longer be able to join your server.
Disabling the Whitelist
To allow anyone to join your server again, simply remove all Steam IDs from the permittedlist.txt file and save it. When the permitted list is empty, the whitelist is disabled and all players can connect.
Your Valheim server is now restricted to whitelisted players only. Anyone not on the permitted list will be unable to join.
